Family Services

The Head Start Family Services staff works with families to identify individual family goals, strengths, and necessary services and supports. This work includes identifying individual family’s needs, referring needs to the appropriate agencies, and following up with parents on referrals. Head Start Family Services staff also assists with transportation and technical assistance for the parents to apply for these services.

Beginning with the Head Start enrollment process, or soon thereafter, to allow time to build more trusting relationships, the Family Services Staff will access individual families’ needs, strengths and goals to determine which support services and community agencies will be needed to meet their needs and goals. During the assessment of the Family Development Plan, staff will avoid duplication of efforts and/or conflict with any preexisting family plans developed between other programs and these familes.
